Strength training for cycling
May 2018
interesting Month. I am feeling stronger, however my stamina is still lacking. My last couple of training runs for the Helvetia half June 9th have felt pretty good.
I have stepped up the training by riding my bike into the office each day with the exception of Monday and Thursday, with a long ride on Sunday., 18 plus miles. This is currently long for me!
This is part of the prep for the Haig Lake Duathalon July 7th. This is the race I am really looking forward to. I love the dual sport events. In that same week I also have the Foot Traffic Sauvie Island flat half. That is always a great July 4th event.
For strength training I have been attending a HIIT class at the gym. Definitely adds fuel to the Pain train.
Still on the mission of the 10:00 min event!!!!
Week Ending 04-15-2108
Final long run in the bag for the Eugene /2 Marathon on April 29, 2018. Finished the last long training run. Just finishing the 12 mile run put me in a good head space knowing I can complete the race. I am not at the race pace I want to be, however the season is early.
Lets see what comes next week. Supposed to be a little moist, which is expected for spring weather
Check back soon for another update on the pain train.
April 10, 2018
- Today was an interesting day. I started the first day of trying to do some weight training.
- Think I will need to find a gym that has a program. On my own, not to much incentive.

- That sucked. It was windy, semi rainy, and the day before I did track work out. I got as far as 5 miles and said screw it, I am hitting he couch.
- Worked our well. the next day Monday I hit the Foot traffic group run and we did hills all over the Cornell area. Glad I took the rest
